A mid week celebration.

Bert Wednesdays

BertWednesdays Dundee – 10 / 09 / 2010

Short sweet this week, were about to lose one of our long term Dundee members for pastures new. Please come along and buy Rob a drink or two to send him on his way.

Location : Tally’s
Time : 8:00pm

BertWednesdays Glasgow – 01 / 09 / 10

Howdy all. Stu’s away this week, so you’ve got yet another fresh face to guide you in your quest for Wednesday drinking. Please join me as I guide you through our world of Glaswegians,  drinking establishments, social media and some truly atrocious HTML code.

So, where are we going?

Location : Sloan’s
Time : 8:00pm ish

There, that wasn’t so hard. Nice wee picture and everything. It’s in the centre of town, across from the St. Enoch Centre. Click on the picture to get a Google Map, you can get the subway there easily too. Hope to see you all there! Bring your friends, everyone’s welcome. Fancy hats are not required, but are certainly a plus.

Love and hugs,

Gordo, King of Space.

Bert Wednesdays – Dundee – 25 / 08 / 2010

We were back to normal numbers last week which was nice in a weird sort of way, so who’s up for visiting the re-vamped Globe Bar? The question is has it changed at all or is it pretty much the same with a lick of paint.

Location : The Globe
Time : 8:00pm ish

I have recently been asked what the hell is BertWednesdays? The simple answer is that it’s a celebration of the turning point in the week and therefor as good occasion as any other to get off your ass to meet new people or old friends.

History / Info : BertWednesdays started about 3 years ago just as a small group of friends nipping out for a pint (or two) on a Wednesday evening and has grown into a nice social event to meet new people (at least thats what’s happened over the last few years ). I’ve used it as a way to expand my social circle and hopefully give other people to do the same ( you know who you are ).

To quote Stu “Is it all about the games biz thats what I thought it was?” Well not really, that wasn’t my intention when I started it, but it has sort of gone that way in Dundee as most of our social connections lie in the field we work in. Though we do have people from other areas that come along now and again ( Dundee Uni Admins, Abertay Staff and Students, Staff from Debenhams / The Bank  ).

So feel free to come along and say hello, use it as opportunity to meet new people and introduce some new subjects to the conversation.

Cheers,

Bert

Hope to see lots of the locals out and about to keep me company.

Bert THURSDAYS – Glasgow – 19 / 8 / 10

Bit of a twist this week, the weekly Glasgow BertWednesday meet will take place on Thursday instead, in order to coincide with the Meet140 Tweetup.

“The Meet140 Tweetup is a very pleasant, random crowd, gathering every so often in London, Cheltenham, Glasgow, Aberdeen…

No agenda, just come to see old friends and make new, discuss social media or just pure banter. It is the social part of social media and we love a diverse crowd. Any questions, just ask Mark @markofrespect or Allan @allanbarr

As well as social media types, members of the creative directory Folio14 will be in attendance. Artists, graphic designers, illustrators.

And of course… as many Glasgow based game developers as we can convince to come too!

The venue is…

The Lansdowne – 6pm – 11pm

If you intend to go, you need to go here and register via twitter, so the guys have an idea about Numbers.

See you there!

BertWednesdays Dundee – 11/08/2010

Well we have two of these going now and at some point I really need to sort this site, but for now it’ll do boy. As for the Dundee location I’ve been thinking that since it’s the last day the Dare guys are in town I would suggest a fantastic.

“Situated in the heart of Dundee’s West End, The Speedwell Bar has been known by generations of locals as “Mennies” – after the Landlady who owned and ran the property for over half a century. Built by James Speed in 1903, the pub was taken over by Henry Mennie in the 1920′s and remained within the same family ownership until 1995 when the pub was taken over by Jonathan Stewart.”

Location : Speedwell Bar
Time : 8.00pm

Please come along, I know it’s a little out of town. Note I believe this to be one of the best pubs in Dundee and not just for it’s extensive Whisky collection which is quite extensive.

As always every one is welcome.

BertWednesdays Glasgow – 11 / 08 / 10

We’ve had some ‘malfunctions’ with venues when it comes to venues for the Glasgow leg of BertWednesdays. So, this one comes straight from the man himself!

Location : The Universal
Time : 8:00pm

The Universal

How to get there…

See you all there,

Stu
